Jean, Hall Earn NEC Weekly Awards
The Blue Devils were honored for their efforts in the NEC opening day win over SFU
Central Connecticut State football players Christopher Jean and Brayden Hall were recognized with NEC Football Weekly Awards for their efforts in the Blue Devils win over Saint Francis. Jean was named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Hall took home Special Teams Player of the Week. Elijah Howard joined Jean as an NEC Prime Performer.
Jean, the reigning NEC Defensive Rookie of the Year, contributed to three of the five takeaways the Blue Devil defense came up with. He intercepted a pass, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble in the game. Jean also finished with five tackles, three solo, and broke up a pair of passes. He leads the league in passes defended this season, 16th in FCS, at 1.33 per game.
Hall returned five punts on the afternoon, averaging 15.4 yards per return. His long return of the afternoon was 28 yards. Hall is averaging 14.9 yards per punt return for the season, tops in the NEC and sixth in the NCAA. He also made two solo tackles in the win.
The Blue Devils are 2-1 on the year and 1-0 in league play after the 31-7 defeat of SFU. The CCSU defense held the Red Flash to minus-nine yards of total offense in the second half, the best defensive half in at least the past decade.
CCSU returns to action on Saturday, travelling to Merrimack for a 6:00 pm game on Saturday.
