Wright Named NEC Defensive Player Of The Week
Senior linebacker made a career-high 15 tackles in the win over RMU
Central Connecticut State linebacker Malachi Wright had a career-day in the Blue Devils win on Saturday to earn NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. He was joined as an NEC Prime Performer by teammates Devon Anderson and Elijah Howard.
A native of West Haven, CT, Wright led the Blue Devils with a career-best 15 tackles. He recorded four solo stops for the CCSU defense in a key league victory. The tackle total is the most by an NEC player in a single-game this season.
Anderson was recognized for his touchdown off an interception. The 55-yard return is the longest in the league this fall.
Howard, who moved into fourth place on the Blue Devils all-time rushing list, had a fourth consecutive game over 100 all-purpose yards, with 153, and a second consecutive game with a rushing total over 100 yards, finishing with 131. He also scored a rushing touchdown.
The Blue Devils, 4-3 overall and 2-0 in NEC action, travel to Wagner on Saturday for a 5:00 pm contest.
