Men's Soccer Adds Scotty Murray as Assistant Coach
Central Connecticut men's soccer head coach Dave Kelly announced the addition of Scotty Murray to his coaching staff ahead of the 2025 season. Murray's addition rounds out Kelly's staff for the upcoming season.
"Scotty is a great addition to the Central Connecticut program," said Kelly. "He has a great deal of experience and knowledge coaching and recruiting athletes who will benefit our Blue Devils community. We look forward to beginning the preseason and kicking off 2025!"
Murray recently completed his second season with West Texas FC of the National Premier Soccer League. West Texas went 8-2-2 in the most recent campaign and was the Lonestar Conference regular season champions and the El Dustico champions. In two seasons he helped the squad compile an 18-4-3 record and back-to-back regular season conference championships and a pair of El Dustico championships. West Texas won the Lonestar Conference playoff championship in 2024 and was NPSL South Region finalists in 2024. Murray began his coaching career in Alabama. He was a graduate assistant at Faulkner University in Montgomery, AL, of the NAIA. He worked with the team's goalkeepers and helped engineer a six-win improvement. Murray also served as the head coach of Alabama Christian Academy High School and steered the program to a 2024 Capital of Dreams High School championship.
Murray's playing career included two years each at Huntington University (IN) and Bluefield University (VA) of the NAIA from 2013-17. Following his collegiate career he spent time in the NPSL with the Seacoast United Mariners (ME) and in the Australia National Premier League (2017-21). Murray played for the Sunshine Coast Fire FC (2017-19) and Launceston City FC (2019-21).
Murray graduated from Bluefield University with a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology.
