Knowles Collects Two Hits in CCSU's Second Game on Day Two St. Mary's Invitational
Sophomore Katherine Knowles had two of six Central Connecticut (3-11) hits in an 8-2 Blue Devil loss versus Idaho State (8-13) at the St. Mary's Invitational. The Blue Devils will face Canisius at 3 p.m. EST tomorrow.

Blue Devil senior starter Rachel Brenneman gave up a hit in both the first and second innings but held Idaho State off the scoreboard. Central Connecticut got its first hit in the third inning. Freshman Samantha Cieri singled to lead of the stanza, but junior Jaclyn Logan hit into a double play to end any threat.
The Bengals put the first runs in a busy fifth inning. They scored five times on six hits. A grand slam by freshman Cristin Martin highlighted the inning.
After a scoreless fourth inning, CCSU got a run back in the top of the fifth. Logan had a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. Idaho State answered with a run in the bottom half of the inning. Brenneman did manage to work out of a bases loaded, no-out jam with only allowing the one run.
The Blue Devils put up another run in the top of the sixth. Knowles scored on an error after reaching with her second single. The Bengals again responded. They scored twice in the bottom half of the inning.
A Central Connecticut double play in the seventh ended the game.
Brenneman gave up 15 hits while striking out four over six innings. Six of her eight runs allowed were earned. Sophomore Kandis Clesson pitched a complete game to pick up the win. She allowed the two runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits while striking out two. Martin went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Bengal offense.
Central Connecticut will play Canisius at 3 p.m. EST tomorrow.
