Junior Karise Hilt was named Second Team All-New England by the
New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association, it was
announced this week. Hilt and the Blue Devils captured their fifth
Northeast Conference Championship in seven seasons this fall. She
also earned NSCAA All-Region honors and was named All-Conference
following the season.
Hilt is the 13th player in Central Connecticut women's soccer
history to earn All-New England honors. Last season teammates
Rachel Caneen and Leah Blayney both earned the honor.
Hilt played in 22 games for the Blue Devils, helping anchor a
record-setting defense. CCSU posted a program-best 12 shutouts
this season. A first team All-Northeast Conference selection, Hilt
had three goals and an assist this season. The Leominster, MA
native was one of just two non-goalkeepers to earn NEC Defensive
Player of the Week honors in 2008. She was also a second team
all-conference selection in 2006.
The Blue Devils ended their season with an NCAA Tournament first
round loss at Boston College. It followed CCSU's fifth NEC
Championship in seven seasons. The Blue Devils did not allow a
goal in the NEC Tournament topping Monmouth 1-0 in the semifinals
and then beating top-seed Long Island 1-0 in the championship game
in Brooklyn.
