Blue Devils Finish 4th at Turning Stone

The Central Connecticut men's golf team finished their first tournament of the season in 4th place of 13 teams overall at the Fourth Annual Turning Stone Tiger Intercollegiate.  Host Missouri topped the standings after Monday's round to claim the tournament championship.

Kaluhyat Course at Turning Stone resort in Verona, NY was the host course to this weekend's tournament.  The par-72 course played 7,105 yards long in the tournament which was hosted by Missouri.  Rounds one and two were played on Sunday, September 2nd with the third and final round wrapping up tournament play on Monday, September 3rd.

The Tigers (-22) sealed the first place spot in the tournament followed by Louisville (-3) and Memphis (+2).  Central (+26) placed fourth finishing ahead of IPFW (+27) who rounded out the top-five.

Leading the Blue Devils in the tournament's closing round was sophomore Monte Mullen (74/71/70/215) who tied for third in the individual standings.  Mullen shot just 14 shots off of the tournament's individual champion Jace Long (66/66/69/201) from Missouri.  Mullen jumped nine spots on the individual leader board after being tied for 12th place after day one.  He finished one stroke under par.

Senior captain Dan Fanion (76/71/75/222) placed tied for 22nd in the event at 6-over par.  Senior Matthew DeJohn (73/72/82/227) capped a 34th place finish (+11) while senior Greg Beloin (74/80/79/233) finished tied for 48th (+17).  First year Blue Devil freshman Connor Murphy (87/73/86/246) finished 64th (+30).

Central will be back in action again on September 8th at the CCSU Fall Invitational.  The tournament will be a home event for the Blue Devils at Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield, CT.
