Maziarz, Milhomens Earn NEC Weekly Awards
Duo honored for their performances in season opening dual meets
Central Connecticut junior Jewelle Maziarz was named the Northeast Conference Diver of the Week, and teammate Sophie Milhomens was named the league's Swimmer of the Week. The duo were honored for their efforts in the Blue Devils season opening dual meets versus Army West Point and Vermont.
Maziarz, a native of Newmarket, NJ, finished sescond on the 1-meter board, socring 235.50 points. On the 3-meter board she tallied 205.75 points, to place seventh.
Milhomens posted the top time of the early season in the league, with a 200 backstroke swim of 2:07.37. Each of her other three swims were all the second-best time of the early going. Leading off the 200 medley relay, she split 27.70 in the 50 backstroke. Her 100 backstroke time, 59/57, and her 200 butterfly time, 2:14.40, are also both second in the league thus far.
The Blue Devils return to action October 25-26th when they host New Hampshire for a two-day dual meet at Suydam Natatorium. Friday night competition begins at 5:00 pm and the Saturday session begins at 11:00 am.
