Keane Named NEC Swimmer of The Week
Keane posted the top 1,000 free time in the conference and the top 500 free dual meet time against URI
Central Connecticut State graduate student Abbey Keane was named the Northeast Conference Swimmer of the Week on Wednesday afternoon. It is the Blue Devils second NEC Swimmer of the Week honors this season and the teams seventh weekly award of the campaign.
Keane, a native of Wethersfield, CT, won the 1,000 freestyle in the Blue Devils senior day meet versus URI. Her time of 10:27.14 is the fastest 1,000 swim in the NE this season by more than three seconds. In the same meet on Saturday she swam a 5:08.18 500 freestyle time, fifth fastest in the league this season and the fastest dual meet swim in the league. In the Blue Devils Friday night meet with UConn, Kean posted the 13th fastest 200 freestyle time in the NEC this season, with a swim of 1:57.53.
Keane and the Blue Devils completed their dual meet season this past weekend and turn their attention to defending their back-to-back NEC Championships. The 2025 NEC Swimming & Diving Championship will be held at Spire Institute, February 19-22.
