The Central Connecticut volleyball team was recognized with the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award
The Central Connecticut volleyball team was recognized with the American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 2024-35 season it was announced on Monday. The Blue Devils have earned the team academic honor for 19 consecutive seasons, which is the sixth-longest active streak in Division I.
"It is very exciting to see that the record-setting, on-court successes during the 2024-25 season have extended to the classroom," says AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "The fact that more programs earned the Team Academic Award than ever before is evidence of how committed our coaches are when it comes to helping their players reach their goals as both students and athletes."
"Earning the AVCA Team Academic Award is a testament to the dedication, discipline, and heart our student-athletes bring both on the court and in the classroom," CCSU head coach Alyssa Broccoli said. "This honor highlights the positive culture we're building—one that values growth both on and off the court."
A record breaking 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball programs maintained a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale), to earn the award for their classroom excellence during the recently completed academic year.
The Blue Devils had 10 student-athletes named to the Northeast Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, including eight named to the NEC Commissioner's Honor Roll for a 3.75+ GPA. The volleyball team also posted the highest GPA among all programs at CCSU this season.
