The Central Connecticut women's golf team leads the field after the first and second round of the Mount St. Mary's Invitational. Central is currently in first place after shooting a day one total of 617, 41 strokes over par.
The Blue Devils hold an impressive lead ahead of second place Robert Morris by 11 strokes and third place Saint Francis U by 24 strokes. Central followed a round one 308 with a second round 309 to top the leader board. Fairleigh Dickinson is fourth and Fairfield is fifth, shooting 648 and 650 respectively.
Senior Katie Reid is in second place on the individual leader board after a first day score of 152, just a single stroke behind the tournament's individual leader Halley Morell representing Robert Morris. Reid, who was four under-par through the first seven holes of the second round, is eight strokes over-par after she followed a first round score of 79 with an impressive round two 73.
Sophomore Albrianna Farnum trails teammate Reid by just one stroke and is currently is in third place on the individual leader board. Farnum shot a 153 on Monday after the first two rounds, a 76 followed by a 77 to put her at nine strokes over-par.
Also earning a top-five spot after the tournament's opening two rounds is senior Anna Ausanio. Ausanio is tied for fifth place and 12 strokes over-par. The senior penciled in a total score of 156 on Monday, shooting a 75 in round one and an 81 in round two. The Blue Devils are the only team in the field with three top-five competitors on the individual leader board after the first round.
Freshman Sarah Boden is tied for 18th place and 20 strokes over-par after a 164 on Monday. Senior Stephanie Bednar registered a 166 shooting an 88 in round one followed by a 78 in round two, a ten stroke improvement. Bednar is 22 strokes over-par.
The tournament will conclude tomorrow after the final 18 holes of the event are played. Central will tee-off tomorrow morning, Tuesday April 15th, at 9:20 a.m.
