Women's Cross Country Wins Back-to-Back NEC Title
The Central Connecticut State women's cross country team won its second straight NEC title on Saturday at B&D Acres in Tyrone, PA. Maegan Desmarais and Juliana Cancellieri finished second and third overall, respectively, to lead the Blue Devils to their ninth conference title overall.
The Blue Devils scored 51 points, with its five scorers all in the top-20 and seven runners in the top-32.
Desmarias and Cancellieri ran in a lead back of three, with individual winner Rylee Ferretti, separated from the pack after the first of three loops. Desmarais finished at 22:25.6, while Cancellieri crossed at 22:29.6
Kaylee Gravel was the Blue Devils third finisher, placing 10th in the standings, running 23:21.8. Lillian Tabellione (24:01.7) and Isabella Jensen (24:10.7) placed 17th and 19th to round out the Central scorers. Rachel Bartolucci placed 31st at 24:56.4 and Isabelle Mondo was two spots back of her, with a run of 24:59.9.
