Desmarais Paces CCSU Runners at NCAA Cross Country Northeast Regional
The Central Connecticut women's cross country ran at the NCAA Northeast Region Championships on Friday in Hopkinton, NH. Maegan Desmarais led the Blue Devils' group of runners among a field of 251 individuals and 37 teams.

NOTABLE
- Desmarais completed the course in 21:27.4 to finish 93rd overall. She climbed 24 spots after running a 7:14.0 split at the 4K mark, and then climbed 19 spots in the final split after running a 7:07.6 over the final 2K.
- Juliana Cancellieri finished the course in 21:43.9 and placed 113th overall. Her split after 2K of 7:00.1 was the best mark of CCSU's runners.
- Lillian Tabellione completed the course in 22:38.6 and earned a place of 184.
- Rachel Bartolucci (23:16.1), Kaylee Gravel (23:17.0) and Isabelle Mondo (23:46.0) rounded out the Blue Devils' runners at the race.
RACE NOTES
- Charlotte Richman of Army West Point was the top finishing individual, finishing the 6K course in 19:52.8
- Boston College topped the team standings with a total of 60 points, just ahead of Providence (71) and Army West Point (91).
- The top two teams in each regional automatically qualify for the NCAA. The NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 14 at-large teams to fill out the 32-team field. Individually, the top four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier or an at-large team automatically advance to the championships. All four finishers have to finish in the top 25 within their region. Altogether, 36 individuals automatically qualify and two are chosen at-large. The two at-large selections are the highest placing individuals at a regional that were not automatic qualifiers.
