Baseball Splits Doubleheader at Wagner on Friday
The Central Connecticut baseball team earned a split of a Northeast Conference doubleheader at Wagner on Friday afternoon. The Blue Devils dropped the first game before bouncing back to take the second game.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils opened the scoring in the second after Chris Brown reached on an error before stealing second base and moving to third on a groundout. Jackson Haker would hit a fly ball to left field that brought Brown home to make it 1-0.
- Wagner responded with an eight run third inning. The first four batters reached safely and the Seahawks banged out six hits in the frame. Connor Roche hit a two-run homerun to push the lead to 8-1.
- Wagner added seven runs on 11 hits in the next three at bats to build a double-digit lead. The CCSU bats were limited to just four hits across the final four frames.

KEY MOMENTS
- Wagner used a three-run second inning to take the lead. Back-to-back singles opened the frame before a one-out single by Mateo Matthews drove in a run and a two-out double by Lukas Torres drove in two more runs.
- Central would make it a one-run game with two runs in the fifth. Owen Arias and Brady Short both singled to open the frame. A sacrifice bunt was followed by a groundout to plate the first run. A two-out single by Brown drove in another run to make it 3-2.
- A four-run seventh inning would put CCSU ahead. Arias and Short again opened the inning with hits and Arias would score on a groundout to tie the game. Aidan Redahan followed with a double to plate the go-ahead run. CCSU loaded the bases with two outs and a double by Antonio Ducatelli drove in two runs.
- Gabe Pitts drew a leadoff walk in the eighth and reached third base with one out. Gianno Merlonghi would drive him in on a groundout to make it 7-3.
- Wagner got a one-out single in the eighth before Wyatt Cameron came on in relief. He worked around a pair of singles and would get a strikeout to end the game.
NOTES
- In game two, Vincent Borghese tossed 7.1 innings and scattered 10 hits. He struck out nine.
- Redahan went 3-for-3 in game one and had four hits on the day.
- Short finished 3-for-4 with two runs in the second game.
- Merlonghi, Redahan and Ducatelli each had two RBIs in game two.
- Central has collected 10+ hits as a team in 28 games this season.
- CCSU is 76-40 all-time against Wagner
