Baseball Clinches NEC Tournament Berth; Splits Stonehill Doubleheader
The Central Connecticut baseball team split a Northeast Conference doubleheader against Stonehill on Saturday in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils clinched a berth in the Northeast Conference Tournament with the win, while honoring its group of 11 seniors on their final weekend of home games for the season.

KEY MOMENTS
- Stonehill took advantage of a pair of first inning CCSU errors to plate two runs, with an RBI from Grayson Sparr plating the second run
- Aidan Sengenberger made the score 3-0 with a sixth inning homerun to right field
- Sam Parks singled down the left field line with one out in the eighth inning, to plate Ryan LeClair with the fourth Skyhawks run and scored two batters later, after stealing second to make the score 5-0
- Jimmy Gilleran held CCSU hitless until the bottom of the fifth, but he came out after 6.1 innings. Colby Brouillette hit a two-run homerun in the bottom of the ninth to spark a Central rally. CCSU would get the tying run to the plate before a game-ending flyout

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils scored six runs in the first two innings of game two. An RBI-single by Aidan Redahan plated the opening run, before Jackson Haker scored on a groundout and an error allowed another run across to make it 3-0 in the first.
- In the second, Louis Jordan led off with a triple before scoring on a single by Brady Short. Haker would follow with a homerun to make it 6-0.
- Stonehill got a solo homerun from Taylor Gaspar in the third and a two-run homer from Jack Thorbahn in the fourth to cut the deficit in half.
- Short would single home Jordan in the bottom of the fourth to make it 7-3.
- Stonehill scored three runs in the fifth inning to make it a one-run game. Sean McGee singled in two runs and Aidan Cohall doubled in another to make it 7-6.
- The Skyhawks took a lead in the seventh with two runs. A pair of RBI-groundouts by Grayson Sparr and Gaspar would push across runs to make it 8-7.
- A single by Redahan followed by a Brown double put two runners on to open the bottom of the seventh. A sac fly by Bo Yaworski would tie the game before a wild pitch brough home the go-ahead run.
- In the eighth, three straight singles by Redahan, Brown and Yaworski would push the lead to 12-8.
NOTES
- CCSU honored its senior class of Brown, Haker, Brouillette, Short, Redahan, Yaworski, Brock Pare, Matt Falk, Wyatt Cameron, Kyle Gordon and Gianno Merlonghi
- Falk was 2-for-2 in the first game.
- Drew Munn tossed 7.0 innings and allowed just two earned runs, while striking out six.
- Short, Haker and Redahan each had three hits and two RBIs in the second game.
- Cameron tossed 2.0 shutout innings and allowed one hit with two strikeouts to earn his fourth save.
- Haker hit his fourth homerun of the season, while Brouillette hit his first.
- The Blue Devils have scored 10+ runs in 19 games this season.
- Central has collected 10+ hits as a team in 30 games this season.
- CCSU is 3-5 all-time against Stonehill
