Women's Soccer Falls at Lafayette in 2025 Opener
The Central Connecticut women's soccer team fell, 1-0, at Lafayette on Sunday at Gummeson Grounds in Easton, PA. The Blue Devils played much of their season-opener to a deadlock before the Leopards scored the game's only goal with just over 11 minutes remaining.
The Blue Devils will travel to Manhattan for a 5:00 p.m. kickoff on August 21.

KEY MOMENTS
- Just 10 minutes into the contest, Lafayette would break out on a scoring opportunity and Katrina Santelli sent a shot on goal that Melina Ford turned away with a diving save.
- The first half was marked by near misses, the first of which came in the 22nd minute when the Leopards' Heather Plowright sent a shot off the crossbar.
- Central would have its own opportunities in the opening period. In the 17th minute, Luci Schroeder played a short corner and got the ball back on the right side. Her left footed shot at the far post narrowly missed high.
- Lafayette would hit the woodwork on a pair of back-to-back chances in a three-minute span. In the 20th minute, Plowright would hit the crossbar, followed by her third shot off the half to go off the crossbar in the 22nd minute.
- CCSU had its first shot on frame in the second half in the 50th minute, but Hannah Dorney's shot was stopped by Catherine Apker.
- Lafayette scored the game's only goal with 11:59 remaining when Plowright crossed a ball in from the left side that found the head of Santelli who nodded it in for her first of the season.
