Desmarais, Marin Earn Final NEC Weekly Honors Of The Spring
The Blue Devils host the NEC Championship Saturday and Sunday
The Central Connecticut State women's track and field team earned the final NEC Athlete of the Week accolades on Wednesday, as Maegan Desmarais earned the track honor and Maya Marin earned the field honor. That duo was joined as NEC Prime Performers by Ciara Adu-Addo and Nuchwara Inthasit.
Desmarais ran the 300m steeple chase at the prestigious Penn Relays, running a personal-best 10:18.94 – the top run in the NEC during the spring season.
Marin recorded the longest discus throw in the league this fall at the CCSU Invite, throwing 46.82m to win the event. She also won the javelin on Friday, with a 35.92m throw, just shy of her best effort of the spring (40.65m) which is the top throw in the NEC.
Adu-Addo jumped 5.80m in the long jump on Friday, a school-record and the second longest effort in the league this season.
Inthasit set a school record in winning the 200m at the CCSU Invite, running 24.66, the fastest time in the NEC this spring.
The Blue Devils are back on action this weekend at the NEC Championship, May 2-3rd. CCSU will host the championship and tickets are available online at CCSUBlueDevils.com/CCSUTickets.
