Aidan Clark Named NEC Special Teams Player Of The Week
Kimal Clark and Jayvis Rayside take home NEC Prime Performer accolades
For the second time this season, Central Connecticut State punter Aidan Clark has been named the Northeast Conference Football Special Teams Player of the Week. Defensive standouts Kimal Clark and Jayvis Rayside were both selected as NEC Prime Performers for their efforts at Dartmouth on Saturday.
Clark, a native of Tolland, CT, averaged 50.8 yards per punt for the Blue Devils on Saturday. He punted four times on the day for 203 total yards. He had two punts over 50 yards, with a long of 59 on the day. Clark also placed one punt inside the 20-yard line.
A graduate of Tolland High School, Clark leads the NEC in punting, averaging 44.2 yards per punt this season. That average is good for 16th in FCS football through games of October 20th. He has punted 36 times this fall, with eight punts of 50+ yards, including an school and NEC record punt of 84 yards at Saint Francis U. He has placed 12 punts inside the 20-yard line and had 10 fair caught.
Clark was named an NEC Prime Performer for his 10-tackle effort, which included 2.5 TFL on Saturday. He now has four double-digit tackle games this fall and ranks fourth in FCS with 10.4 tackles per game. Rayside collected a career-best 12 tackles in the game at Dartmouth to also earn Prime Performer.
The Blue Devils, 3-4 overall and 1-0 in NEC play, conclude a three-game roadswing on Saturday, travelling to LIU. The 12:00 pm game will be the NEC Football Game of the Week and will be available on ESPN+, YES Network, NESN360, NEC Front Row and Sportsnet Pittsburgh.
