Football Adds 11 During Early Signing
The NEC Champion Blue Devils inked 11 newcomers during the early signing period this week.
Adam Lechtenberg, the 2024 Northeast Conference Coach of the Year, announced the signing of 11 student-athletes for the Blue Devils incoming class in the Fall of 2025. The Blue Devils are coming off a 2024 NEC Championship and FCS Playoff appearance last weekend.
The Blue Devils announced the addition of Mykhi Davis (Washington, DC). Kyle Greene (Baltimore, MD), Benjamin Howard IV (Roxbury, MA), Jaden Langford (Windsor, CT), E'ryan Lawrence (Buffalo, NY), Jesus Martell (Meriden, CT), David Rivera, Jr. (Waterbury, CT), Dravyn Roberts (East Hartford, CT), Davon Smith, Jr. (Baltimore, MD) Jeremiah Tucker (Rochester, NY) and Damani Williams (Englewood, NJ).
"I am very excited to have signed some of the best players in the Northeast this week," Lechtenberg said. "We will always have a strong emphasis on recruiting high school kids from the state of Connecticut and the surrounding states. We will always seek to find good students from great families to come in and help raise the bar here at CCSU. We believe this group of players will help us continue to compete for championships. This class has a great mix of athleticism and size and I couldn't be more excited to have these guys be the foundation of our 2025 signing class."
Davis, a Dunbar High senior, earned First-Team on both sides of the ball. He is a speedster, that haold the DCIAA 100m and 200m dash records and was All-Met Honorable Mention in track. He is expected to join the corners.
Greene is a senior at Calvert Hall where is earned All-Conference in the MIAA A as a defensive back. He led the team in tackles, tackles for loss and interceptions. The Blue Devils have him penciled in as a safety.
Howard, a senior at Malden Catholic, has helped his high school program to three state championships. He is also an All-Scholastic selection. He will come in as a member of the defensive line unit.
Langford helped lead Windsor High to three conference championships during his career and earned All-Conference. He also was named All-Conference in track on two occasisions. He will join the Blue Devils linebacker corp.
Lawrence is currently enrolled at Bennett High, where he put up 2,145 all-purpose yard, 92 tackles and seven interceptions in two seasons. The Blue Devils see him as a dual threat at wide receiver and defensive back.
Martell, a senior at Maloney High, caught 13 TD passes this fall. He is expected to compete for playing time at wide receiver.
Rivera, a senior at Waterbury Career Academy, earned the 2023 WCA 'Trench Bully' Award for top offensive lineman and was named First-Team All-City. He is a 2024 Academic First-Teamer and a three-time Student of the Month. He will join the talented CCSU defensive line.
Roberts, a senior at East Hartford High, is a three-time All-Conference selection and has over 7,800 all-purpose yards and 96 career touchdowns. The Blue Devils see him as a versatile, multi-position threat.
Smith, a student at Mergenthaler Vocational Tech, earned both All-State and All-City during his scholastic career. The Blue Devils see him as a versatile, multi-position threat.
Tucker, currently enrolled at East High, was named Class A Defensive Player of the Year. He will join the Blue Devils linebacker room.
A senior at Dwight Morrow High, Williams is a two-time First-Team All-Confernece selection. He also was named Man of the Year. The Blue Devils see him as a versatile, multi-position threat.
