Turner Named NEC Football Special Teams Player Of The Week
Marcus and Stoll earn Prime Performer honors
Central Connecticut State running back Jadon Turner was named the Northeast Conference Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday, for his efforts in the Blue Devils win over Stonehill. Donny Marcus and Jack Stoll were named NEC Prime Performers.
Turner recorded 127 all-purpose yards in the Blue Devils key NEC win on Saturday. He returned the ball four times for 113 yards, averaging 28.3 yards per return. That effort helped the Blue Devils average starting drive to begin at their own 39 yards line, while Stonehill started its drives at the 27-yard line. Turner also carried the ball nine times for 24 yards.
Turner leads the league and is 39th nationally in combined kick return yardage with 386. His 25.7 yards per kickoff return is also tops in the NEC and is 16th among FCS players through games of November 9th. Turner has also ushed for 338 yards this season, which ranks 10th in the NEC.
Stoll led the Blue Devils defense with 10 tackles as CCSU held Stonehill to just 75 yards rushing and a 3-11 effort on third downs. Marcus finished with 88 all-purpose yards, including a 30-yuard touchdown catch that put CCSU in front in the fourth quarter.
CCSU hosts Robert Morris on Saturday at 12:00 pm in the first of two home games to close out the regular season. The Blue Devils must win both games to secure the program's seventh NEC title and first since 2019.
