Toatley, Barnum Earn NEC Weekly Honors
Toatley, Wright both named NEC Prime Performer
Central Connecticut State defensive lineman Dan Toatley took home Northeast Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors on Monday. Junior kicker Jack Barnum was named the NEC Special Teams Player of the Week for the fourth time this season. Toatley and Malachai Wright were selected NEC Prime Performers.
Toatley had a monster day on the defensive side for the Blue Devils, recording 4.5 TFL and 3.5 sacks. He finished the game with five total tackles, four of them solo stops. Wright led the Blue Devild defense with nine tackles on the afternoon.
Barnum connected on a 30-yard field goal in the win, and was a perfect 3-3 on PAT attempts. He kicked off six times on Saturday, averaging 59.7 yards per kickoff and recording touchbacks on half of the kicks.
The Blue Devils defeated Wagner 24-14 on Saturday to improve to 4-5 overall and 2-1 in league play. CCSU travels to Stonehill for an NEC matchup Saturday at 1:00pm.
