Burke Win Paces Men's Indoor Track & Field At BU Opener
Burke won the 60m and was third in the 200m
The Central Connecticut State men's track and field team opened the indoor portion of its season at the BU Sharon Colyear-Danvile Season Opener. The event was hosted by Boston University.
The event was the team's only meet of December, and the squad gets back to action on January 9th at the Bryant Indoor Throws competition and the TCNJ Winter Open.
- Tristan Burke took the top spot in the 60m dash, winning the event with a finals effort of 6.93, after qualifying first with his top time of the day, 6.92
- Kenny Agwu took second in the 60m hurdles, crossing the line at 8.57
- Burke followed up his win with a third-place finish in the 200m, stopping the clock at 22.14 – the top collegiate runner in the event
- Maxwell Czarnecki placed seventh, crossing at 22.61, while Jayden Brown finished 11th at 22.92
- Agwu was 14th overall at 23.32, equaling a personal-best
- Brown was the Blue Devils top runner in the 400m, placing ninth with a time of 50.12, while Czarnecki was close behind in 12th with a time of 50.31
- Gabriel Kwarteng opened his season with a 1:57.94 effort in the 800m, good for 14th overall
- In a field of 79 entrants in the mile, Thomas Flanders IV posted a time of 4:19.56, good for 52nd
- Salvatore Masciarelli ran 8:29.94 in the 3000m, finishing 102nd in the large field
- James Sullivan finished 11th in his heat of the 5000m, running 14:33.56 to finish 167th overall
- Brendan Mellitt crossed the line at 14:38.79, good for 176th in the field of 223 in the 5000
