Golda Sets Shot Put School Record
Tristan Smith broke the 2011 mark and then Golda broke Smith's mark
The Central Connecticut men's track and field team were in action on Saturday at the Wagner Invitational.
The Blue Devils effort was highlighted by a pair of school records in the shot put. Tristan Smith set the mark in the third round with an effort of 16.84. That mark lasted until the final round when Greyson Golda threw 17.24.

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
- Tristan Burke took third in the 60m, running 6.93 after postin ga 7.01 preliminary run that qualified him sixth
- Salvatore Masciarelli paced four Blue Devils in the top-eight of the mile by claiming second place, with a run of 4:14.25. James Sullivan (4:19.93), Thomas Flanders IV (4:23.07) and Mark Rodriguez (4:23.14) finished in a bunch in sixth, seventh and eighth place respectively
- Kenny Agwu advanced to the finals in the 60m hurdles after running 8.69 in his prelim heat, the sixth fastest time and moved up a spot to place fifth with a final's effort of 8.56
- Lucas Figueiredo topped a packed field in the 400-meter dash with a time of 48.94 in the finals.
- KyMoy Phillip claimed the top spot in the 500m dash with a time of 1:04.65
- In the 800m run, Aiden Budge ran 1:24.91 to place second, missing the top spot by just .1. Teammate Ivan Timochko placed seventh, turning in a time of 1:58.42.
- Burke and Figueiredo placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 200m dash. Burke ran 22.19, just ahead of Figueiredo at 22.21
- Joseph Lauria was the Blue Devils top runner in the 3000m, running 8:39.81 to place third, with Michael Kraszewski in fifth place at 8:52.07
- The Blue Devils 4x400 relays crossed in third and sixth place on Saturday, as Jayden Brown, Maxwell Czarnecki, Figueiredo and Caleb Harris combined for a 3:19.69 effort that tied with FDU for third. Budge, Chris Abbey, Timochko and Ryan Dunning ran 3:29.23
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
- Golda's school record of 17.24 was good for first place in the shot put, while Smith's former mark, 16.83m placed him second. Smith broke the 2011 mark of Rashad Williams of 16.72m
- Golda claimed second place in the weight throw, again on his final effort, with a mark of 18.53, as he led five Blue Devils in the top-nine spots.
- Nicholas Xavier was third in the weight throw (16.24m), with Angelo Pisacreta sixth (15.70), Smith (15.70m) seventh and Brayden JOhnson nineth at 14.56m.
- Alex Figueiredo's long jump of 6.66m in the second round was good for ninth overall in standings
- Alex Figueiredo would win the high jump with a best mark of 2.02m, just ahead of teammate Rashaan Rankins (1.97m). Braeden Christopher placed fourth with a mark of 1.87m, while Thomas Hooks placed seventh with a jump of 1.82m.
