Men's Track & Field in Third Place Following Opening Day of NEC Championships
The Central Connecticut State men's track and field team opened competition at the NEC Track and Field Championships on Saturday in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils are currently in third place in the team standings.
The day was highlighted by Greyson Golda and Angelo Pisacreta earning silver and bronze in the hammer throw.

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
- Mark Rodriguez was the top finisher for CCSU in the 10,000m, placing fourth in 31:17.30. Michael Kraszewski placed sixth finishing in 32:01.17.
- In the 4x800m relay, the quartet of Jack Ciambra, Matthew Kraszewski, Angelo Feliciano, Tyler Safstrom earned fourth with a time of 7:48.01 to set a season-best.
- CCSU had a strong contingent of runners in the 1,500m. Thomas Flanders IV (3:59.85) and Ryan Dunning (3:59.94) placed third and fourth respectively in the first heat, while Aidan Budge (4:01.99) won the second heat and Chris Abbey (4:02.03) was third to qualify for tomorrow's final.
- In the 110m hurdles Julieen Lopez claimed the final spot for Sunday's final with a time of 15.59.
- Lucas Figueiredo posted the fastest prelim time at 47.79 to seal his place in Sunday's final. He will be joined by teammate Kymoy Phillip (49.82) placed second in his heat and earned the final spot in Sunday's final.
- Tristan Burke qualified for the final in the 100m by virtue of winning his heat with a time of 11.02.
- Gabriel Kwarteng ran 1:53.28 in the 800m to win the first hit and qualify for the final tomorrow. Dylan Bathrick won his respective heat in 1:54.33 to book his spot in the final.
- Central had two runners qualify for Sunday's final in the 400m hurdles. Maxwell Czarnecki won his hit in 54.75, while Lopez qualified for the final in both hurdles events with a time of 55.74.
- Figueiredo clocked 22.09 and won his heat to qualify for the final in the 200m
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
- Zachary Bonini and Kyle Martin placed fifth and eighth, respectively, to score in the javelin. Bonini's set a new personal-best mark at 49.50m, while Martin threw 47.47m.
- In the hammer, Greyson Golda and Angelo Pisacreta won silver and bronze, respectively. Golda threw 56.97m and Pisacreta had a mark of 52.55m to set a personal-best.

The second day of the NEC Championships begins Saturday at 8:30 a.m. with field events. The men's steeple opens track competition at 12:30 p.m.
