Men's Track & Field Claims Five Events Wins on Sunday
The Central Connecticut State men's track and field team finished second in the team standings at the NEC championships on Sunday in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils won five events on the day and scored 172 points as a team.
Among major award winners, Grayson Golda was named Most Valuable Performer and Outstanding Field Performer – Throws. Teammate Aidan Budge was named Outstanding Track Performer – Distance.

TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
- Joseph Lauria won the opening track event of the day, winning the 3000m steeplechase in 9:21.33. Matthew Kraszewski took bronze in 9:24.76, while Aaron Allen placed sixth in 9:46.03.
- The relay of Jordan Jackson, Octavius Richard, Cory Bates II and Tristan Burke placed fourth in the 4x100m relay with a time of 42.64.
- Aidan Budge led a trio of Blue Devils in the 1,500m final and won bronze in 3:54.03. Chris Abbey placed fifth in 3:59.77 and Thomas Flanders IV was seventh in 4:00.32.
- Julieen Lopez ran 15.61 in the final of the 110m hurdles.
- Lucas Figueiredo won gold in the 400m final, clocking a time of 47.47, while teammate KyMoy Phillip ran 49.08 to place fifth.
- Tristan Burke ran 10.84 in the 100m final to earn points.
- Dylan Bathrick won bronze in the 800m with a time of 1:54.09, while Gabriel Kwarteng clocked 2:12.17 in the final.
- Maxwell Czarnecki won silver in the 400m hurdles with a time of 53.92, while Lopez clocked 55.43 in his second final of the day.
- Lucas Figueiredo just missed the podium, placing fourth in the 200m with a time of 21.69.
- Budge won the 5,000m in 14:49.45, while Mark Rodriguez won bronze in 14:52.91. Connor Garreett placed seventh in 15:08.87.
- CCSU closed with a win in the 4x400m relay. The quartet of Phillip, Jayden Brown, Czarnecki and Lucas Figueiredo clocked a time of 3:16.51
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
- Nathanyel Davis placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 14.16m.
- Grayson Golda took gold in the discus with a throw of 50.15m, while teammate Tristan Smith placed seventh with a mark of 45.56m.
- Alexander Figueiredo (1.89m) and Thomas Hooks (1.89m) both scored in the high jump, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.
- Golda won his second event of the day, throwing 18.10m in the shot put. Tristan Smith placed third with a throw of 16.90m.
