Softball Sweeps Doubleheader at Stonehill on Wednesday
The Central Connecticut State softball team swept a doubleheader at NEC host Stonehill on Wednesday, winning games 10-1 and 5-3. The wins extended the Blue Devils' win streak to four games.
Liz Hamilton tossed a complete game to earn the win for CCSU in the first game, while Ava Cino hit a homerun and drove in five runs.
Hailey Strunk and Hamilton combined to help the Blue Devils rally in game two and Joslyn Teel drove in three runs.

KEY MOMENTS
- After a leadoff walk and an error allowed the first two batters to reach base, Ava Cino hit a three-run homerun in the top of the first to make it 3-0.
- A trio of singles in the second inning would load the bases with one out for Cino. She would single up the middle to drive in two runs. Following a walk to load the bases, Stella Gasper and Skylar Warn drove in runs on consecutive singles before a sacrifice fly by Sophia LoPiccolo drove in a run to push the lead to 8-0.
- Harper Sullivan hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the second for Stonehill.
- Gasper hit a two-out single in the third to drive in two runs and push the lead to 10-1.
- Hamilton allowed just one hit over the final three frames to shutdown the Skyhawks.

KEY MOMENTS
- Stonehill scored two runs in the bottom of the first. Sullivan hit into an RBI-groundout and Haleigh Reed hit a two-out single to drive in a run and make it 2-0.
- Teal led off the third with a homerun to get Central on the scoreboard, but Stonehill pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning to maintain a two-run lead.
- CCSU would get an RBI-double from Teal in the fourth inning and a run in the fifth to tie the game, 3-3.
- Skylar Warn doubled in the top of the sixth and a two-out triple by Teal drove her in to make it 4-3. Kristina Bozek followed with a single to score Teal and make it 5-3.
- Hamilton came on to pitch in the fifth and only allowed a pair of singles to sew up the CCSU comeback.
NOTES
- Hamilton allowed just two hits over 5.0 innings in the first game before throwing 3.0 shutout innings in game two.
- Cino went 2-for-5 with five RBIs and two runs in the opening game.
- Teal went 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs in game two.
- Ashlyn Desaulniers and Gasper each had three hits in the doubleheader.
- CCSU has won three straight and is 9-2 in the series.
