Grace Lawton Ties CCSU Single Season Home Run Mark In Win Over UNH
Blue Devils Top Chargers, 10-5, As Lawton Goes Deep Twice
Senior Grace Lawton tied the CCSU single season home run record on Sunday afternoon, as she blasted homers number 11 and 12 of 2026 and drove in seven runs to help lead the host Blue Devils to a 10-5 win over the visiting University of New Haven Chargers in NEC action at the CCSU Softball Field. Sunday's win completes a weekend sweep by Central over UNH, and gives the team an eight-game winning streak, as they move to 21-13 overall and 16-2 in conference play. New haven is now 7-26 overall and 5-13 in the NEC.
Lawton's 12 home runs ties her for the single season record with Paige Stringer and KC Machado.

KEY MOMENTS
- After New Haven took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run homer by Jess Petit, the hosts quickly responded by scoring four runs on four straight hits capped off by Lawton's first homer of the day, a three-run shot to deep left field.
- The score would remain 4-2 in favor of CCSU until the top of the fourth when the Changers plated a run to make the score 4-3, but Central answered with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 6-3 scoring on a New Haven throwing error and an RBI-double by Ava Cino.
- The Chargers would make the score 6-4 with a tally in the fifth, but Lawton put the exclamation point on the win with her second home run of the day, this time, launching a grand slam to centerfield to make the score 10-4.
- With those two home runs and seven runs batted in on Sunday, Grace Lawton has 12 homers with 39 RBI and a .430 season batting average
- Ava Cino had Central's other two runs batted in on Sunday.
- Liz Hamilton pitched a complete game to raise her season mark to 13-3, allowing only six hits with three strikeouts and five walks.
