Lawton Earns ECAC Softball Honors
Grace Lawton of the Central Connecticut State softball team earned All-ECAC Team honors it was announced on Wednesday. Lawton enjoyed one of the best offensive campaigns in CCSU annals as a senior.
Lawton earned All-NEC First Team honors at first base and set a single-season program record with 13 homeruns. She also earned the Gail Rutz Award for the top senior female student-athlete at CCSU. She was the only player in the NEC with multiple home runs in a single game and posted a league-leading 45 RBI, which tied the program's single-season record. Lawton hit .385 on the season, while posting a .462 on-base percentage and a .763 slugging percentage.
The Blue Devils advanced to the championship round of the NEC Tournament after matching a program recordd with a 20-4 mark in NEC play. CCSU went 28-19 on the season overall. For the first time in program history the Blue Devils won every league series and as a result posted the program's best NEC winning percentage.
