Softball Drops Friday Night Game In Extra Innings, 10-7 To Rider
CCSU had 15 hits in the nightcap
The Central Connecticut State softball team dropped a 10-7 eight-inning decision to Rider Friday night to conclude the first day of the Spartan Clash.
The Blue Devils knocked out 15 hits in the contest, with four from Grace Lawton and three apiece by Ava Cino and Stella Gasper. Gasper drove in three runs, while Skylar Warn finished the night with two RBI.

KEY MOMENTS
- Rider opened a 2-0 lead, with single runs in the second and third innings of the game.
- Cino put the Blue Devils on the board in the home portion of the third innings, with an RBI single to left field that scored Ashlyn Desaulniers.
- The Broncs extended their lead with a three-spot in the top of the fourth, taking a 5-1 lead midway through the contest.
- Central began their rally in the fifth-inning, as Lawton singled with one out. Gasper followed with a single and then after a strikeout Warn drove a double to left field, plating a pair of runs to make the score 5-3.
- CCSU took the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two out, Cino worked a walk and then Lawton singled down the left field line to load the bases. Gasper doubled to left field in the next at bat, clearing the bases and giving Central a 6-5 advantage.
- Rider was able to find the equalizer in the top of the seventh, with an unearned run, as the Blue Devils committed two errors in the frame. Central was retired in order in the bottom of the inning to send the game to extra innings.
- A one-out single, with the runner starting on second, put Rider on top and was the first of four runs in the frame – three of them unearned.
- Desaulniers doubled to lead off the bottom of the inning, scoring Bozek, but was thrown out at third. The Blue Devils got the tying run to the plate but could not draw event.
