Softball Splits Senior Day Doubleheder With Sacred Heart
Vunak's Three-Run Homer Lifts CCSU To Comeback Win In Game One
A three-run, home run by Reagan Vunak capped off a five-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning of game one of a Senior Day, non-conference doubleheader for the CCSU softball team against visiting Sacred Heart University, as the Blue Devils won the opener, 7-6, before SHU took the nightcap, 5-0. With the split, Central is now 24-16 overall; while the Pioneers move to 20-28 on the 2026 season.

KEY MOMENTS
- Sacred Heart got off to a quick start in game one taking a 4-0 lead with a run in the first inning and three more markers in the top of the third.
- The Blue Devils got on the board in the bottom of the third on an RBI-single by Lilly Waterer that scored Reagan Vunak.
- The visitors would up their advantage to 6-1 with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the fifth inning setting up CCSU's comeback.
- Reagan Vunak, who went a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate in game one, had an RBI-single in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 6-2 in favor of the visitors.
- Skylar Warn opened the bottom of the sixth with an infield single. After a fly out, both Morgan Goodspeed and Adriana Manory drew walks to load the bases. Ashlyn Desaulniers, who went 3-for-4 in the opener, would drive in two runs with a double down the leftfield line. The next CCSU batter, Reagan Vunak, would then blast what turned out to be the game-winning hit, a three-run homer to center, to finish with four runs batted in for the game. Vunak now has four home runs so far this season.
- Gracie Granate would make Vunak's big fly stand up, as she worked two hitless innings of relief backing up starter Hailey Strunk to earn the win.
- As team, the Blue Devils banged out a total of 12 hits lead by four from Reagan Vunak, three from Ashlyn Desaulniers and two from Skylar Warn.

- SHU again got off to a quick start in the nightcap on Saturday scoring four runs off starter Liz Hamilton in the top of the first inning.
- Sacred Heart pitcher Emily Campion was outstanding in the circle in game two limiting Central to only two hits in the contest, a double by Grace Lawton and a single by Stella Gasper.
- CCSU also drew a pair of walks in game two.
- After earning the win in game one, Gracie Granate also fired another scoreless relief inning in game two on Saturday.
NOTES
- CCSU honored its seven seniors before the doubleheader on Saturday: Ava Cino, Ashlyn Desaulniers, Morgan Goodspeed, Kendra Grove, Grace Lawton, Adriana Manory and Skylar Warn.
- With Saturday's doubleheader split, the Blue Devils posted a 13-5 regular season mark at home.
- As a team, CCSU has now hit a total of 38 home runs so far this season.
