Vunak's Homerun Earns Softball Doubleheader Split at Wagner
Reagan Vunak hit a solo homer in the seventh inning of game two for the game's only run.
The Central Connecticut State softball team split an NEC doubleheader on Friday at Wagner on Staten Island, NY. The Blue Devils lost 1-0 in the opening game before bouncing back to take game two by a 1-0 scoreline.
Reagan Vunak hit a solo homerun in the top of the seventh inning to help earn the doubleheader split for CCSU.

KEY MOMENTS
- Neither side had a runner reach third base safely until the top of the fifth. Sophia LoPiccolo led off with a single and moved to second base on a single by Kristina Bozek with one out. A groundout would allow LoPiccolo to move to third base but a ground out to first base would end the inning.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning a leadoff walk followed by a one out single would put two runners on for the Seahawks. Taylor Reynolds would single to left-centerfield to drive in the game's winning run.

KEY MOMENTS
- Wagner would have runners reach third bases in each of the opening two innings. The Seahawks loaded the bases on three straight singles with one out in the bottom of the first inning before Hailey Strunk would get a strikeout and a groundout to work out of the jam. In the second inning with runners on second and third with two outs, Wagner hit into an inning-ending groundout.
- CCSU would put two runners on base in the first and fifth innings, but until there was two outs in the seventh, the Blue Devils were unable to reach third base. Vunak would hit a first-pitch ball over the fence for the game's only run with two outs.
NOTES
- Strunk tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering seven hits, in game two. She had two strikeouts.
- Vunak's homerun was the game's only extra-base hit in the game. Her and Ava Cino each had two hits.
- Ashlyn Desaulniers, Stella Gasper, and Joslyn Teal each added singles.
- Liz Hamilton tossed 6.0 innings in game one and allowed just one run on four hits.
- CCSU was held to three singles by LoPiccolo, Grace Lawton and Kristina Bozek in the opening game.
- CCSU is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings with Wagner.
