Dunnigan Gold Highlights Day Two For Swimming & Diving

The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team sits second after two days of the 2026 NEC Championship at the Spire Institute in Geneva, OH. The Blue Devils have accumulated 305 points and are in second place in the team standings, trailing Howard and its 321 points. 

The Blue Devils hauled in five individual medals Wednesday night, with a gold, two silver and two bronze. Megan Dunnigan highlighted the evening with a win in the 200 IM. 

DAY TWO RESULTS 

500 Freestyle 

• Maggie Rutledge made a charge over the last 50 yards, but was just touched out for the top spt, claiming silver in 4:55.56 

• Gabby Spaciano took home the bronze, going 5:06.33, with Izzy Vega placing seventh at 5:09.93 and Lauren Lord eighth at 5:10.02 

• Hannah Kretkowski sliced four seconds off of her morning swim, touching 5:07.47 to place 10th 

• Sophia Pincince swam a career-best time in winning the C Final, touching at 5:14.87, while Mackenzie Talbot finished 24th with a swim of 5:26.78 

200 IM 

• Megan Dunnigan and Addison Kenney battled for the lead from the outset, with Dunnigan in front at the midway point and Kenney taking a .09 second lead entering the freestyle 

• Dunnigan split 29.48 coming home to capture gold in a time of 2:03.81, just in front of Kenney, who claimed silver at 2:04.05 

• Gabi Wroblewski finished eighth in the A-Final, touching at 2:09.22 

• Grace Young finished 14th in a time of 2:11.15 

50 Free 

• Grace M. Young swam 23.05 in finals, placing third 

• Kate Suchowiecki won the C-Final, swimming 24.20, with Lauryn Cowing fourth in the heat in a time of 24.59   

Relay 

• The Blue Devils 200 free relay pulled away from the field over the last 100 yards, to finish second in a time of 1:34.02 

• Kenney led off the relay in a 23.84, followed by Suchowiecki at 23.65, Young at 23.06 and Dunnigan in 23.47
