Henry Posts Career-High; Women's Basketball Falls at Home to Vermont
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team was outscored by Vermont, 85-48, on Sunday at Detrick Gymnasium. The Catamounts scored the first 13 points of the game and would keep the Blue Devils at arms length the rest of the way in CCSU's last contest before an eight-day layoff.
Kayla Henry led the Blue Devils with a career-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Cierra Pearson chipped in 10 points, six rebounds and four assists.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Catamounts raced out of the start, scoring the first 13 points of the game and building a 30-7 lead after the opening 10 minutes. UVM shot a scintillating 73 percent from the field and made 6-of-10 from three-point range, while limiting CCSU to just 3-of-13 (.231) shooting overall.
- CCSU opened the second quarter by scoring the first five points and held the Catamounts without a field goal for the opening four minutes. Cierra Pearson scored a pair of buckets to open the period and she would make it 30-12 just 2:30 into the period. UVM would get its first field goal with 5:52 to go in the period, but the Blue Devils would manage to keep pace in the quarter and keep the margin unchanged from the opening quarter.
- Pearson would open the third quarter with a layup for CCSU before Vermont went a 12-2 run over nearly four minutes to expand its lead to 55-24. Kayla Henry and Trinity Barnes would do their best to keep Central close, combining for 13 points in the quarter, but UVM would lead 63-35 after the third quarter and the Blue Devils would be unable to get any closer over the final 10 minutes.

- Pearson posted a season-high in scoring and hit a pair of three-pointers
- Trinity Barnes and Mathilda Toure each finished with five points to combine for Central's bench scoring.
- The scoring in the paint was similar with UVM holding a 38-30 edge, but the Catamounts had a 21-7 edge in points off turnovers and a 11-0 edge in second chance points.
- The teams were meeting for the first time since 2017. Vermont leads the all-time series, 11-9.
