Lewis Tabbed To NEC All-Rookie Team
Freshman finished fourth in the NEC in scoring
Central Connecticut State freshman Kiyah Lewis was named to the NEC All-Rookie Team; it was announced on Monday afternoon.
Lewis scored a team-best 13.8 points per game, an average that ranked fourth in the NEC. That number rose to 15.1 points per game when she played against conference rivals. Lewis shot 80 percent from the free throw line this season, third in the league. She averaged 4.9 rebounds and blocked a team-best 23 shots, fifth in the conference.
A native of Fredericksburg, VA, Lewis finished her rookie campaign with 17 double-digit scoring efforts, including seven games of 20 points or more. She recorded her first career double-double in the final road game of the season, scoring 36 points and collecting 11 rebounds, both career-highs. The 36-point effort is the most by a NEC women's basketball player this season and the fifth-best single-game effort by a rookie in NCAA Division I.
