Farrell Posts Career-High; Women's Basketball Falls to Mercyhurst
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team dropped an NEC contest at home against Mercyhurst, 80-63, on Thursday night. Jessica Ferrell accounted for a career-high 21 points to pace four Blue Devils in double-figures, but the Lakers held a 12-0 margin in bench scoring.

- The teams combined to connect on the first four shots of the game, while Mercyhurst would hit three three-pointers to start the game and lead 9-4 in the early going. The Blue Devils would regroup and hold the Lakers scoreless for over three minutes to forge a 12-10 lead following a Lucia Noin jumper midway through the opening quarter.
- A run of five straight points in a two-minute span would put Mercyhurst ahead 18-14. Following a pair of Lakers foul shots with 0:40 to play in the opening frame, Noin would convert a layup and cut the deficit to 20-18 just before the end of the first quarter.
- CCSU would open the second quarter with four straight points, taking a 22-20 lead after a pair of Kiyah Lewis foul shots. The lead would swing back-and-forth from there over the ensuing four minutes until Mercyhurst forged a 31-28 lead with 5:02 to play in the half. Mercyhurst would build its largest lead of the half after a Lena Walz foul shot at 40-34 with 1:09 to play in the period, while holding CCSU to one field goal over the final four minutes before going into the intermission with a 42-36 lead.
- The Blue Devils' deficit would expand to 49-38 following a Sofia Wilson layup at the 6:42 mark of the third quarter. After a Lakers layup, Jessica Farrell would convert CCSU's first three-pointer of the game to make it 51-41.
- Farrell would account for four straight points for the Blue Devils late in the third period and got CCSU within, 57-48, with 1:44 left. Cici Hernandez would convert a layup with just under a minute to play to make it an 11-point game heading into the fourth quarter.
- Central would make it 59-50 with 9:33 to play before Mercyhurst ran off 10 straight points to build its largest lead of the night before a Noin layup ended the run with 5:30 remaining. Four straight points by Farrell and a foul shot by Noin would make it 75-61 with 2:45 to play, but CCSU would get no closer the rest of the way.
