Volleyball Sweeps Saint Peter's in Home Opener
The Central Connecticut volleyball team swept Saint Peter's in its home opener on Tuesday in New Britain, CT. Olivia Keckler had a team-high 12 kills, while Weronika Poczynek added 11 kills and eight digs.
The Blue Devils play in the Holly Young Invitational this weekend. CCSU will face Brown and New Hampshire on Friday.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Blue Devils took an early 3-1 lead following a block by Poczynek and Kaylin Hadley, but the Peacocks would settle in and the set was tied at 7-7. A kill by Amanda Tokam would spark four straight points for CCSU, which would take the lead for good. A block by Tokam and Keckler would give Central its largest lead at 19-12 before SPU came back with five straight points. The Blue Devils would close the set with Lauren Milani recording a kill and a block.
- Central opened the second set with four straight points, but the Peacocks would tie the frame at 5-5. CCSU trailed, 22-20, before a block by Hadley and Milani followed by an ace from Hiemer tied the set. Central would take advantage of two SPU errors to close the frame and go up 2-0.
- CCSU took a 12-9 lead midway through the third set after a kill by Poczynek, but the Peacocks would draw even at 13-all. A run of four straight points capped off by a kill by Hadley would make it 21-17 and Central would go on to win the match following a kill by Poczynek.

11 – Central had just 11 attack errors and hit a season-best .266. The Blue Devils also had 11 total blocks as a team.
NOTES
- CCSU has won seven straight meetings and is 7-1 against Saint Peter's since 2002.
- Keckler added three blocks and an assist, while hitting .458. She was named NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week earlier on Tuesday.
- Poczynek had two blocks and two aces to go with her 11 kills.
- Hadley and Tokam each had a team-high five blocks. Hadley added five kills, while Tokam had four.
- Hiemer finished with 31 assists for the Blue Devils.
- Annabell Denomme had a match-high 14 digs.
