Volleyball Falls Twice at Holly Young Invitational on Friday
Blue Devils travel to UConn for Saturday matinee.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team went 0-2 on Friday at the Holly Young Invitational, falling in straight sets to Brown and New Hampshire
The Blue Devils will play UConn on Saturday morning in Storrs, CT.

KEY MOMENTS VS BROWN
- The Blue Devils held an early 3-2 lead after a kill by Larissa Hiemer in the opening set. Brown would respond with five straight points and outscore CCSU in a run, 7-2, to go ahead for good. Following a kill by Isabella Bratzke, the Bears would score six straight to win the first set.
- Lauren Milani opened the second set with a kill and after an ace by Annabelle Denomme, CCSU would lead, 4-1. Brown outscored CCSU, 7-1, to take a three-point lead. A Milani kill would get the Blue Devils within, 14-9, but the Bears would allow just two points the rest of the way to go ahead 2-0 in the match.
- In the third set, Milani and Bratzke combined for a block to spark a four-point spurt that put Central ahead, 5-2. CCSU was ahead, 9-6, following a kill by Louise Lion, but Brown would use a four-point of its own to go ahead midway through the set. Central would get even following a kill by Olivia Keckler to make it 15-all, but the Bears would close the set with a 10-5 run.

11 – Brown recorded 11 service aces in the match, compared to just three for CCSU.
KEY MOMENTS VS UNH
- The Wildcats scored the first four points of the opening set, but the Blue Devils battled, climbing back to within two points, 9-7 on a Milani kill before UNH went on a 9-2 run
- The Blue Devils fell behind 4-0 again in the second set, but rallied back to tie the match, 9-9, before an 8-2 rally put the Wildcats in front
- Trailing 17-11 in the third set, a UNH service error jumpstarted a Blue Devil run that saw them score six of the next nine points, thanks in part to four straight points from the Olivia Keckler service, to make the score 20-18 on a Milani kill
- UNH scored the next two points and after CCSU closed to within 23-20, closed out the match with consecutive points
NOTES
- Isabella Bratzke hit .364, with four kills and no errors versus UNH
- Kylee Baranski had 27 assists in the afternoon match
- Keckler had four kills and no errors versus Brown
- Milani and Louise Lion both had seven kills versus UNH
