Baseball Opens Season at Florida A&M With Doubleheader Split
The Central Connecticut State baseball team opened its season at Florida A&M with a doubleheader on Saturday. The Blue Devils fell, 4-0, in the first game of the day before bouncing back with a 4-1 win in the second game.

KEY MOMENTS
- FAMU opened the scoring with runs in the fourth and fifth innings. With two outs in the fourth, Alex Monile singled before going to third on a single by Ethan Miller. In the next at bat, Miller got caught in a run down that allowed Monile to score from third and make it 1-0.
- In the fifth inning, Colton Ryals doubled and came home one batter later on a single by Matthew Perez to make it 2-0.
- The Rattlers tacked on two runs in the bottom of the sixth after loading the bases with one out. Perez and Ryals would each single to drive in a run and make it 4-0.
- Caleb Granger held CCSU hitless and without a baserunner until Matt Graziose singled in the fifth inning. He allowed a single to Antonio Ducatelli and a walk to Frankie Ferrentino in the seventh inning before giving way to Cody Williams.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central opened the scoring in the top of the third. Brandon O'Neill singled and stole second to lead off. He would come home, two batters later on a single by Ryan Scialabba to make it 1-0.
- In the top of the fourth, Ducatelli led off with a single and came around on Frankie Ferrentino's first homerun of the day to make it 3-0.
- FAMU got a run back in the fifth when Colton Ryals walked before scoring on a triple by Justen Crews to make it 3-1.
- Ferrentino led off the sixth inning with his second homerun of the game to round out the scoring.
- Richie Kerstetter tossed 5.0 innings in relief and allowed just one run, while striking out eight for the win.
NOTES
- The first game was 7.0 innings before the teams would play 9.0 innings in the second game.
- Nick Murphy started for CCSU in game one and went 4.1 innings. He allowed two runs and scattered eight hits.
- Kyle Salvati started the second game and tossed 4.0 shutout innings. He allowed just two hits while striking out four.
- O'Neill and Scialabba each had two hits in the second game.
- The teams were meeting for the first time.
