Baseball Wins at Sacred Heart Tuesday
Matt Graziose homers twice and the Blue Devil's bullpen tosses 5.0 shutout innings
The Central Connecticut State baseball won convincingly, 13-1, at Sacred Heart on Tuesday at Veterans Park in Fairfield, CT. Matt Graziose hit two homeruns and a trio of CCSU hurlers combined to allow just one run.
Graziose collected three hits with four RBIs, while Nate Dudeck and Bryce Meder combined to throw 5.0 shutout innings in relief.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central opened the scoring in the first, set up by a one-out single by Nick Fox. After a walk moved him to second, Gianno Merlonghi would plate Fox with a two-out single to make it 1-0.
- In the fourth, CCSU would load the bases with one out. Gabe Pitts hit a ground ball to short that allowed a run to score and make it 2-0.
- SHU would get its only run in the bottom of the inning. With runners on the corners and two outs, Ronan Donohue singled to center to make it 2-1.
- CCSU broke it open with four runs in the fifth. Brandon O'Neill would hit a two-run double before Graziose hit his first homer of the day to drive in two runs and make it 6-1.
- Graziose would hit a two-run homer in the seventh with one out to push the lead to 8-1. Louis Jordan would single with two-on and two-out to plate another run.
- CCSU would load the bases with no outs in the ninth. A bases loaded walk to Antonio Ducatelli scored a run before Merlonghi, Ferrentino and O'Neill each plated a run to make it 13-1.
NOTES
- Graziose was 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs. He is second on the team with five homers on the year.
- Anthony Costello started and scattered three hits in 4.0 innings. He struck out six with one walk and allowed one run.
- Dudeck earned the win, allowing just two hits in 3.0 innings.
- Meder worked around four hits in 2.0 innings of shutout relief.
- Jordan had two hits and drew two walks. He scored a run and drove in another.
- O'Neill drove in three runs and scored two.
- CCSU is 64-45 in the series and has won the past four meetings.
