Baseball Falls at Mercyhurst in Series Finale
The Central Connecticut State baseball team fell at Mercyhurst, 7-2, on Sunday in the finale of an NEC series in Erie, PA. The Blue Devils would score two runs and load the bases in the ninth inning, but were unable to climb all the way back to erase the deficit.
Central were limited to just four singles in the game with Gabe Pitts and Brandon O'Neill each driving in a run.

KEY MOMENTS
- The Lakers scored two runs in the first inning after loading the bases with one out. Mike Samarin hit a sac fly and Jayden Walker singled in a run to make it 2-0.
- An RBI-single by Walker in the third made it a three-run game before Samarin doubled in two more in the fourth to make it 5-0.
- Mercyhurst would add two more runs in the seventh to make it a seven-run lead.
- CCSU mustered just two hits through the first 8.0 innings. Antonio Ducatelli led off the ninth with a single and would load the bases with one out, following an error and a single by Matt Graziose. Pitts was hit by a pitch to force in the first run before O'Neill flew out to right to drive in another run. The Lakers forced a line drive to end the game.
NOTES
- Ducatelli, Graziose, Pitts and O'Neill all singled.
- Nate Dudeck and Bryce DiPiero each tossed 1.1 shutout innings in relief.
- CCSU is 5-1 all-time against Mercyhurst.
