Baseball Slowed at Quinnipiac on Wednesday
The Central Connecticut State baseball team dropped a midweek non-conference matchup at Quinnipiac, 10-3, on Wednesday in Hamden, CT. The Blue Devils had their four-game win streak snapped with the setback.
Frankie Ferrentino and Gabe Pitts each had two hits, while Owen Arias hit a homerun for the Blue Devils.

KEY MOMENTS
- Central opened the scoring in the top of the first inning after Louis Jordan singled and Nick Fox drew a walk. Ferrentino followed with a single to left field to make it 1-0.
- Quinnipiac would tie the game with an unearned run in the third inning before taking control of the game with four runs in the fourth inning. The Bobcats used a walk and four straight hits to push the lead to 5-1. A two-run double by Caden Williamson did the most damage.
- QU would record of RBI-singles in the fifth inning to add to the lead.
- CCSU would get a pair of runs in the sixth inning. Gianno Merlonghi singled with one out and was followed by Owen Arias who would homer to cut the deficit to 7-3.
- Kyle Garbowski hit a solo homer in the bottom of the sixth for Quinnipiac before the Bobcats would add two more runs in the eighth inning.
NOTES
- Arias' homerun was the first of his collegiate career.
- Ferrentino hit his eighth double of the season, which ranks second on the team.
- Pitts added a steal for his eighth of the season, which is second on the team.
- Fox has hit in 16 straight games.
- Brandon Candelora started on the mound and allowed just one unearned run and one hit over 3.0 innings.
- CCSU leads the all-time series, 43-28, but has dropped the past six matchups.
